Red Face
Well, after my very red and dry skin over Christmas I am now back at work and back in the gym. My skin was totally clear on my face when I went back to work but after a hard cardio workout yesterday lunch time it got really red and lumpy. It had calmed down by the following morning but one can just see the red areas although they are quite faint.
It seems the heat from the workout and the shower after are causing my face to go all red and patchy. I can’t stop going to the gym but don’t want the red face.
I have googled some cooling face creams, has anyone used any of these:

Korres Yogurt Cooling Gel Moisturising Face And Body Aftersun Gel:![]()
Jason Witch Vera Cooling Gel:

If so let me know what you think of them.
Thanks.

I haven’t used that particular Nivea product before, but have tried some of their others and my face stung. Badly. So I have moved away from them since.
I have a similar problem though, enjoy going to the gym but hate how my face gets so sore after it (and during actually). I’m relying on my normal emollient cream at the moment, but that always takes a while to kick in. In the meantime I look badly sunburned.
Be good to know if you have any success with this. If I find something that works I’ll let you know!
I haven’t tried anything that worked. The best thing I have used is an Aloe based moisturiser which did cooled me down a bit but not as much as I would have liked.
My skin is practically clear now so its not a problem any more.
Even went in a Sauna on the weekend and was expecting a lot of redness after wards but there was nothing a cold shower didn’t sort out.
I’m pretty much eczema free at the moment.
Wow! I have tried sauna’s, steam rooms etc once or twice and I never managed to stay in them for more than a couple of minutes due to my skin.
Was there any cream / treatment that led to you being eczema free or did it just happen? Basically, any advice would be great!!
Although, I’ve found that since I’ve been going to the gym regularly for the past few months I’ve noticed the skin is better despite the initial problems. Maybe there is something to be said for good ol’ exercise?
I was using Eumovate cream on the patches of eczema I had on my hand, feet, arms and backs of knees. This made the eczema go away but I had to use the cream every day otherwise it would come back.
I had been using the cream in a some areas for around 18 months.
Every now and then I would stop using the cream for a few days to see what would happen and the eczema would re-appear. However the last time I stopped using the cream nothing came back.
I don’t think the cream cured it but it kept it suppressed and not ‘active’.
I personally beleive I get eczema due to stress or having issues in my life that I don’t resolve and during the time I had this batch of eczema I had a few things going on I was not happy with which have kind of been sorted out now, hence the eczema going.
Although saying that I do think the cold winter months make my skin more prone to eczema.
I hope you can get rid of your eczema too. What do you think causes your eczema?
I’m not sure what caused it. I’ve had it for years and it’s generally at a constant level of ‘not too bad, but still annoying’. I had asthma and when that went the eczema appeared - which is apparently common. It was small patches at first but that got worse and is now at this level.
I kind of accepted that’s what it would be like for as long as, but start of this month it got a bit worse (stress probably) I got frustrated so went searching the net for advice which is how I stumbled on this blog.
I honestly don’t know if the eczema will ever go away, but I’m determined to be more pro-active about it and seek out solutions rather than just stick to my prescribed creams which aren’t curing, merely controlling.
Similarly to you, the winter will be the true test. Fingers crossed.
Have you tried using oregano oil?
I had a patch on my back for about two years and went to the dermatologist and got a steroid cream. He described the spot as an “eczema”. The steroid cream cleared the patch up as long as I continued to use it, but the spot returned as soon as I stopped.
I’ve been using oregano oil (a very powerful anti-fungal) and it is greatly reducing the size of the spot [after two weeks of application]. I’m expecting it to be gone in two more.
I actually bought the SKYN moisturizer found at sephora it is very cooling on your skin. i have eczema on my face and it feels amazing when i put it on
i was born with eczema… ive always had eczema on my arms, ears, back of knees and any other patches anywhere i started scratching.. it was constant growing up , (im 22) and recently.. past few years, ive been getting red irritated face. like eczema on my face but no scabtype stuff..just very dry and very irritated.. i tried petroleum jelly or vaseline which seemed to work for a week. after that it seemed like my skin NEEDED it and i dont like feeling that way.(ive also read scary things about it but it did NOT irritate my face more than it already was like everything else id ever used before) im looking for something that will help my skin get to where it can take care of itself.. not something that il need to apply every day for the rest of my life. anyways. my face was terrible. and fate found me.- i didnt know what to do. but we are moving and packing and in the process of packing up, we emptied this bag, and it had some stuff that my mom was given from her work.. like sample type stuff. its made for babies so it is very gentle and made with ingredients that are safe for babies skin. There is a pretty big line of stuff and i have the cleansing facial wipes. the brand is MUSTELA and i know you can get it at babies r us, I dont know where else. Please try this. although it took a week-week and a half maybe for the red to disappear altogether, as soon as i would use the wipe to clean my face, it was totally soothed, calm feeling, and the red would disappear totally as soon as i used it.. it was like a miracle kind of. it wouldnt last all day, but i noticed the more i cleaned my face with them, the more it was clear and the faster it GOT clear. i love it and its very gentle. please post if it works for you.
